Saying like it is? or not.

Is ‘contemporary wisdom’ saying it like it is? Or not?

i am sitting on the edge of a spoon in the midst of somewhere
listening to the news of the day.

the reporter begins,
“an envelope marked ‘contemporary wisdom’
has just been found with the dice that were rolled at Jesus’ crucifixion,
preserved in a bottle with a cork,
at the bottom of the swamp
upon which the city of our government was built.

and while the significant discovery of the dice
may or may not be life changing
for the church
it is not what this news is about.

the cia, fbi, and nsa are still trying to figure out jurisdiction,
and, all are saying ‘we can not comment on the dice
because they are a part of an ongoing investigation,’

an investigation about who gets to open the envelope
marked ‘contemporary wisdom’ and reveal its’ contents.”

now! while we are waiting for the news of who gets to open the envelope
we could speculate on whether it will be fake news or real news.

-Or-

i can share with you what i have been thinking this morning.

i have been thinking about the many different versions of the bible
from which we are informed,
the many different versions of news from which we are informed,
and i have been thinking of fake news and fairy tales
from which we are informed.

which is why i am waiting with you now,
as i sit on the edge of a spoon,
for the revealing of what is within the envelope,
marked “contemporary wisdom,”
found with the dice that were rolled at Jesus’ crucifixion,
preserved in a bottle with a cork,
at the bottom of the swamp
upon which the city of our government was built.

now, we have breaking news

the cia, fbi, and nsa decide that the discovery is not classified information
and can be leaked .  .  .

they give the envelope to the reporter,
who opens it ,
takes out a single piece of paper with writing on it, and reads,

“The ‘contemporary wisdom’ for today is:
instead of rolling the dice,
have faith in a God created humanity
that loves to love and hates to hate.”
